Project NC 100 has been created by the charity Taymarra for the complete refurbishment of the vessel Light Ship ‘North Carr”, she is currently moored at Victoria Dock in Dundee. The project, with a duration of at least 5 years and is expected funding will be in the region of 1.5 to 3 million pounds to complete the completed project .
The project scope will cover all works involved in the refurbishment, including all planning and securing of specialist skills and equipment required to accomplish the task.
The project commenced on the 1st of September 2019 and at present is a small number of volunteer enthusiasts and would welcome anyone to come and get involved with us there is always lots to do.
It is envisaged that the refurbished vessel will act as an HQ for the Taymara charity as well as providing an additional attraction to the historical Dundee Waterfront and in time acting as a training school for water borne activities within the regenerated Victoria Harbour
Phase 1 Deliver a project team and plan to undertake the restoration of North Carr
Phase 2 Maintain the vessel in a safe condition afloat through until Phase 3
Phase 3 Transit the vessel to a location as advised by the Project Sponsor
Phase 4 Lift the vessel onto a suitable location onshore as advised by the Project Sponsor
Phase 5 Inspect and repair the vessel hull and secure it for a minimum period afloat alongside of 25 years
Phase 6 Lift the vessel into the harbour and secure at a location as advised by the project sponsor.
Phase 7 Undertake and complete the restoration of the vessel’s topsides and equipment.
Phase 8 Undertake and complete the restoration of the vessel’s internal spaces and equipment.
